Click ‘Clear’ and Start Over

“Papaw, you just click ‘CLEAR’ and start over.” (my 4 year old granddaughter)
My morning time of devotion was invaded this morning by our early riser visiting us from Oklahoma City.  She cuddled up beside me and started playing Glow Doodle on my iPhone.  There’s nothing much better that early morning cuddle time with this lil cuddle bug, but it’s not what I had in mind for my time of devotion.  I tried to read for awhile, but it became clear that my expectation wasn’t happening today.  Then it occurred to me that this WAS my devotion for THIS morning!  How cool is our God to send me this blessing, just before leaving town for a few days!

She wanted me to draw a picture of her sister on Glow Doodle.  So I took the phone and started; immediately making a mistake.  She said, “Papaw, you just click ‘CLEAR’ and start over.”  I did and sure enough, she was right.

Pretty good life lesson there, isn’t it?  Whatever screw-ups we make today in our quest to walk in the Light, we can just click ‘CLEAR’ and start over for tomorrow.  We do that by taking the screw-ups to Jesus and asking for His forgiveness.  His mercies are new every day (see Lam 3:22-23).

Thank you, Lord, for today’s time of devotion.

Loving the journey,
