Beach Truths

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. (Hebrews 13:8 NLT)

My walk on the beach has served to remind me and to reinforce some important Truths.

First, God is in control. There’s water as far as I can see in three directions. A lot of water. The tide comes in, the tide goes out, but something or someone prevents it from going any higher or lower. Something or someone gave it boundaries. There’s only one who is in control of such things – God.

Second, Jesus never changes. Like the surf I’m enjoying, it’s the same today as it was yesterday and will be tomorrow. That soothing sound, like the words of Jesus, bring a sense of peace.

Third, watching my footprints at water’s edge is like the cleansing power of the blood of Jesus. My earthly walk in sin – the footprint – is washed away by His blood – the surf – as if it never was there.

Fourth, I have to choose where to walk. I can walk with Jesus and have eternal life. Or I can choose to walk without Him and leave my earthly sins to one day be used to condemn me.

Fifth, I’m made to need a partner. Some go through life single and we know from Paul’s writing that’s okay. But for me, I need my soulmate Sandi by my side (Gen 2:18). Whether we’re talking, reading, eating, walking, or just sitting/ laying on the beach, I know I’m a better man because of her love. I’m a better follower of Jesus because of her love. Her love is so deep and it reminds me of how shallow my love for Jesus is. Blessed beyond measure, thank You, Jesus!

Sixth, the evidence of the grace of God is everywhere. I just need to pay more attention.
